Mark Warburton’s men take on former Rangers defender Foster when they face St Johnstone at Ibrox tonight.

Rangers are back in action this evening for the first time since suffering defeat to Celtic in the League Cup semi-final.

But one former Ger has little sympathy for Rangers and is looking to get one over on his old club at Ibrox tonight.

Richard Foster will be lining up against Rangers for St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership this evening.

He first joined Rangers on loan from Aberdeen in the 2010-11 season before joining permanently in 2013 for two seasons.

The 31-year-old is hoping that Rangers suffer something of an Old Firm hangover this evening to help his current side in their bid to win the tie.

He told the Herald:

“We’ll try and disrupt the flow of their game and not let them settle into a rhythm.

“Most importantly, you need to stay in the game and keep it tight for the first 25 minutes. The crowd will start to get more anxious…

“They might be on a bit of a downer and an Old Firm semi-final will be mentally draining.

“There are so many highs and lows in games like that and they were close to getting to a final. They held out until something like the 87th minute.

“Mentally and physically they’ll have put a lot into the game and we’ll be hoping there’s a bit of a hangover.”

Rangers go into the game on the back of some good form in the Scottish league. Warburton has guided the Gers to two consecutive wins in the league and a win tonight would see them leapfrog St Johnstone into fourth place in the table.

Rangers’ players will be desperate to put the weekend’s defeat behind them with a solid performance against the Saints and hopefully three points.

But old boy Foster will do his utmost to keep them out at his old stomping ground.
