Tottenham face Ajax tonight in a game that could end up defining the north London outfit’s campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino has worked wonders since taking over at Spurs in May 2014, but he is still yet to guide his side to a major trophy.
This season’s Champions League provides them with a great chance of ending their 11-year wait for silverware, but they will have their work cut-out against Ajax.
Tottenham will fancy their chances, however, and Pochettino will have been putting his players through their paces leading up to the game tonight.
The Argentine is renowned for pushing his players hard in training, and a former nemesis of Tottenham shared something interesting he’s heard about the training sessions at the club.
Robin van Persie spoke to reporters, and shared what he’s heard about the training sessions at Spurs, as quoted by the Mirror:
“It is very clever how far Pochettino has taken this team. I have heard some great stories about how hard the players have to train under him. The amount of running is bizarre. I hear it is even tougher than under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.”
Pochettino’s methods have been questioned in the past, with his teams seeming to run out of gas during the final few weeks of the season.
Whether the same will happen again at Tottenham this term, however, remains to be seen.
