Luis Sinisterra has posted on Instagram for the first time since joining Leeds United after a deal was made official on Thursday – and Robin van Persie has responded with a post of his own on his Instagram story.

Sinisterra, 23, has penned a five-year deal at Elland Road after four years in the Netherlands with Feyenoord. Last season, he exploded. Clocking up 49 appearances, Sinisterra had a hand in 37 goals – scoring 23, creating 14.

It has seen Leeds bring the Colombia international to Yorkshire, with Sinisterra seen as a replacement for Raphinha. The latter is yet to return to Leeds training and will only do so on July 12, with the rest of the squad in Australia.

Sinisterra becomes the sixth summer signing made by Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch – after deals for Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi and Tyler Adams. He said it is a “dream come true”.

It is a brilliant move for all parties. Feyenoord get a record transfer fee, thought to be around £25million. Sinisterra gets the chance to play in the Premier League, and Leeds bring in a replacement for Raphinha at a decent price.

There is plenty of hype surrounding the signature but Leeds fans can now rest easy if they do lose Raphinha. They still boast Jack Harrison, Dan James and Crysencio Summerville as other options on the flanks.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Netherlands icon van Persie took to Instagram to wish Sinisterra all the best – posting his verdict on the player, too.
