Robertson shares what Klopp said to Liverpool’s players in dressing room at half-time during Aston Villa demolition

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has revealed that Jurgen Klopp’s half-time message as his side were battered by Aston Villa at the weekend was simply to win the second-half, as per his comments on the club’s official website.

Klopp’s Liverpool side were left bewildered after the first 45 minutes on Sunday evening, as Villa kept opening up their defence time after time.

And Robertson has revealed that Klopp asked his Liverpool side to go out and make sure that they won the second 45 minutes.

“We were 4-1 down in the first half and this Liverpool side believes that we could have come back – of course we did,” the Scot said.

“The manager’s message at half-time was clear and that was, ‘Go and win the second half and if it’s enough that’s fine, and if not we will deal with it.’”

Unfortunately Liverpool did not complete their manager’s demands, and matters actually got worse.

Villa went on to win 7-2, with the Reds’ simply not at the races.

And Robertson added: “The fact we then go out and concede as many goals in the second half as well, that scoreline becomes embarrassing when you play for this club, it’s not acceptable and that’s something we all have to deal with.”

Liverpool are now facing serious questions over their defence, after letting in 11 goals in their first four games.

While it is no time to panic for Klopp’s men, they will have to tighten up if they are to successfully defend their Premier League title.

Liverpool are set to be tested in their next game too, as they face an on-fire Everton side after the international break.
