Tottenham Hotspur left it very late to beat Burnley at Wembey on Saturday.

Roberto Soldado has applauded former Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Christian Eriksen on Twitter.

Eriksen struck a stoppage-time winer for Tottenham on Saturday as Mauricio Pochettino’s beat Burnley 1-0 at Wembley.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the most part for Spurs, but the Danish magician, who also bagged a very late winner in the Champions League win over Inter Milan last month, came to his side’s rescue yet again.

Here is the message that Soldado sent him on Twitter:

Spurs fans will find it refreshing that Soldado maintains an interest in the fortunes of his former club.

The Spanish hitman, a £30 million signing in 2013, didn’t exactly score enough goals to repay his lofty transfer fee, but he was a popular player among the Tottenham fans nonetheless.

Saturday’s victory over the Clarets wasn’t all that impressive when you look at the scoreline, considering Pochettino’s side would have destroyed this Burnley team on any other weekend.

But it came on the back of the Lilywhites’ progressing into the latter stages of the Champions League in midweek by drawing 1-1 away to Barcelona.

It’s been an energy-sapping few days on a physical and mental level, so actually the North Londoners did quite well to win ugly on Saturday.
