Roberto Martinez has told the Liverpool Echo that Everton’s left-back options are the best in the Premier League.
The Toffees have the likes of Leighton Baines, Bryan Oviedo and Brendan Galloway to pick from to play on the left hand side of their defence.
And Martinez is very happy with the depth of options he has in the position, feeling that they rival any other team in English football’s top flight.
“Brendan Galloway is a first-team player, he is not a young player any more,” he said.
“With what he has done this season he has earned the right to be considered a starter.
“At the moment our options at left-back are as good as you are going to get in the league with Bryan Oviedo, Leighton Baines and Brendan Galloway.”
So far this season, Galloway has been Everton’s most regular choice in the left-back role, and he has excelled despite his tender years.
The youngster has been one of the Toffees’ standout performers over the early part of the campaign, and his form has enhanced his reputation considerably.
Galloway’s chance has come due to an injury to Baines, but the England international is set to return to their squad soon.
Baines is nearing full fitness and his comeback will be good news for Everton, as he is one of the most talented left-backs in the top tier.
Baines’s attacking quality has impressed for the Toffees over a number of years, and he is likely to come straight back into the starting line-up when he does get back to full fitness.
