Roberto Martinez offers Everton advice over who they should appoint

Everton are currently looking for a new permanent manager following the departure of Ronald Koeman.

Roberto Martinez has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 6th November, that Everton should only go down the route of appointing an inexperienced boss if they are not targeting silverware this season.

Everton are currently looking for Ronald Koeman’s replacement, following the Dutch boss’s departure last month.

It is not yet clear who is the Toffees’ main target, with the likes of David Unsworth, Sam Allardyce and Sean Dyche all linked to the vacancy at Goodison Park.

And Martinez has claimed that Everton need to consider their aims this season, before appointing a new boss.

“I think it depends on where they want to go for this season,” the Spaniard said.

“I think this season has been extra challenging because of European qualification, and having new players coming in. It’s been impossible to get consistency.

“I thought the win yesterday was a real turning point in the season.

“It depends what the goal is now. If it’s to win silverware you need experience. If the goal is to give stability and build the squad, you don’t need that experience. It depends on the goal or the objectives of the job.”

Everton are currently in 15th place in the Premier League table, after what was a dramatic comeback yesterday.

The Toffees came from behind against Watford to secure a vital three points.

Everton now have a two week break from action, during which time they are expected to announce their new permanent manager.
