Roberto Martinez offers advice to Everton’s Kevin Mirallas

Everton winger Kevin Mirallas was recently sent home from training.

Roberto Martinez has told Sky Sports that he wants to help Everton’s Kevin Mirallas find his form again, by giving him his confidence back over the international break.

Mirallas is currently training with Belgium, with uncertainty growing over his situation at Goodison Park.

Mirallas’ future at Everton has been plunged into doubt recently, after Sky Sports suggested that the winger was sent home from training.

Mirallas reportedly showed a lack of effort, and was told to leave the training ground by David Unsworth.

And Martinez hopes that Mirallas’ time with the national team will inspire him to get back to his best.

“First and foremost we need to help him,” the former Everton boss said. “Kevin Mirallas is a winner and at the moment he’s going through a little bit of a difficult time and we need to understand him and try and give him a bit of support.

“From that point on he’s got an opportunity to impress and go back to performing in the way that he can. It’s been difficult; I know the situation inside-out.

“When he finishes he needs to go back and make sure he finds his best in the first XI.”

If Unsworth is appointed as Everton’s full time manager then his chances of breaking back into the first-team do look limited.

However, Everton may well have a new man in charge by the time Mirallas returns from international duty, and that could give him a fresh start.

Everton are next in action in two weekends’ time, when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
