Roberto Martinez has written in The Times that he scouted Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson when he was the manager of Everton.
Martinez was in charge of Wigan Athletic from 2009 until the end of the 2012-13 season.
The Spaniard was then appointed the manager of Everton and remained in charge of the Toffees until May 2016.
Robertson moved to Dundee United in the summer of 2013 and joined Hull City in 2014.
The Scotland international left-back moved to Liverpool in the summer of 2017, and since then, the 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best players in his position in the world.
Martinez, who has been the Belgium manager since 2016, has said that he scouted Robertson when he was the manager of Everton and the left-back was at United.
The Spaniard made the comments ahead of the Premier League game between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday evening.

Martinez wrote in The Times: “One of the highlights of the game will be Adama Traore up against Andrew Robertson. They are two players I know well. During my time in the Premier League I scouted both closely.
“I travelled to Dundee United to see Robertson before he moved to Hull City and you always knew he had everything for a modern footballer. He can defend with a back four but also produce a lot of assists.”
