Roberto Mancini has been quoted by Football Italia as saying Gianluca Scamacca could take up to four or five months to adapt to Premier League football – which will be a concern to West Ham fans as their side continue to struggle.
Scamacca, 23, has started just one of West Ham’s opening seven Premier League matches this season. The Italy star, signed from Sassuolo in the summer, is yet to replace Michail Antonio in the starting line-up. But it seems inevitable.
The Hammers are struggling. David Moyes has seen his side win only once this season, losing five times. On Sunday, they were particularly disappointing during a 1-0 defeat to Everton. New Toffee ace Neal Maupay scoring the goal.
However, his form in Europe has been solid. In four games, he has three goals. Mancini has included him in his latest Italy squad ahead of the World Cup – but says it might not be until the new year, before Scamacca adapts to England.

“Scamacca joined a difficult league and it will take some time to understand English football. He will take four or five months to settle in, but time is by his side,” Mancini said in a press conference, as quoted by Football Italia.
Mancini: Scamacca could take five months to adapt to West Ham
West Ham spent a huge fee to sign Scamacca, elbowing Paris Saint-Germain aside and spending north of £35million. He has shown glimpses of why West Ham have brought him to the club – that physicality up top that is crucial.
The powerhouse-type no.9 that is central to the way West Ham play. Antonio’s form over the years has been critical to the way West Ham have played. It has seen them go after the likes of Seville striker Youssef En-Nesyri in the past.
But Mancini might be right. Scamacca is only 23, and needs time to get used to the speed and tempo of English football – which is a whole lot faster than the Serie A. West Ham fans will be hoping he adapts much quicker.
