The Liverpool striker was looking back on his first strike for Brazil ahead of the game with the Saints.
Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino celebrates scoring their fourth goal against Watford
Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino posted a picture of a significant goal in his life on Twitter yesterday, before explaining that he would use it as motivation for the club’s next match.
Jurgen Klopp’s side head to Southampton on Saturday afternoon looking to continue a hugely impressive run that has seen them soar to the top of the Premier League on the back of sensational attacking football.
Brazilian international Firmino has been a big part of that form, and the 25-year-old was feeling in nostalgic mood the day before the game at St Mary’s, posting a picture of his first ever international goal on Twitter, an effort against Austria in a 2-1 friendly win two years ago to the day.
The former Hoffenheim striker is obviously hoping to stay on the goal trail, having scored in the Reds’ comprehensive 6-1 win over Watford in their last Premier League match.
With six goals and six assists already this season, the Southampton defence will have a number of threats to keep an eye on, but if Firmino is in the right mood, he might need particular attention.
