Roberto Donadoni has told The Sunday Post that Filip Helander will be a success at Rangers.
Rangers have signed Helander from Italian club Bologna in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £3.5 million.
Donadoni was the 26-year-old Sweden international defender’s manager at Bologna for two years, and the Italian legend has backed him to be a success at Rangers as well as score goals despite being a defender.
Donadoni told The Sunday Post about Helander: “I am sure Filip will do very well in Scotland. Having been his coach for two seasons while at Bologna, I can say without fear of contradiction that he is a truly exceptional boy.
“He is very serious about being a footballer, an exemplary professional who always aims to improve.”
Donadoni added: “He is intelligent, too, because he has used his natural advantages to be effective in the air.
“That allows him to dominate crosses in defence and be a threat at the other end of the pitch, when the opportunity arises. I would be surprised if he didn’t score a few goals in Scotland.”

Good signing for Rangers
Given Helander’s performances in Serie A for Bologna and his successful spell in the Italian top flight, Rangers fans should be confident about the Sweden international being a success in the Scottish Premiership as well.
The 26-year-old is strong in the air and is technically very good, and if he is able to score a few goals, then he will be a massive player for Rangers next season and beyond.
Rangers have been quite busy in the summer transfer window and have signed Greg Stewart and George Edmundson among others.
