Aston Villa are on the hunt for a new addition up-front, following their relegation to the Championship.
Roberto Di Matteo has told The Sun that he wants to have a new striker in at Aston Villa before the start of the season.
Di Matteo has been busy assessing the quality of his squad, over his first few weeks of training.
And the Italian boss admits that he wants to find a new front man, who can offer something different to his current options.
“We’ve got some strikers with certain attributes but we’ll have many different opponents throughout the season and I need someone who can help us change games,” Di Matteo said.
“A new, fresh face with different qualities will give us a big help. But I’ll take my time, I’m not in a rush.”
Villa currently have a host of striking options available to them, but hardly any of them impressed last season.
While Jordan Ayew did show some quality in the Premier League, the remainder of Villa’s forwards all struggled last term.
As a result, the Claret and Blues are likely to offload some players in the coming weeks – as Di Matteo attempts to trim his squad.
Scott Sinclair has been linked with Celtic recently, while Ayew is a target of a number of sides across Europe (The Sun).
