The club’s official website confirmed the news on Monday morning, citing that their poor run of form was the cause of his dismissal.
The Italian leaves Villa Park with the club sat 19th in the table, just two points outside the relegation zone.
In that time he only managed one win, a victory over Rotherham United, seven draws and two defeats.
Indeed Villa are the division’s draw specialists, with that tally of seven the most of any club at this stage of the season.

Starting with defence, his team averaged 13 won tackles per game and 15 won interceptions per game, both of which were the among the best five in the league.
Villa won an average of 62 defensive duels per game, the third-best record so far, while they conceded 1.09 goals per game.
Offensively they struggled, registering just 3.7 shots on target per game, and a tally of 0.91 goals per game. The latter is the joint third lowest score in the Championship.
Passing wise Villa registered 285 accurate passes per game and enjoyed an overall passing success of 74%.
