Aston Villa could only manage to draw 2-2 with Nottingham Forest earlier today.
Both Jonathan Kodjia and Ross McCormack have taken the acclaim of their manager, Roberto Di Matteo, for their performances during Aston Villa’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, as per the club’s official website.
McCormack scored Villa’s first goal in the contest, while Kodjia was a constant menace on debut.
And Di Matteo was encouraged by the potential that his new strike partnership showed during the match.
“He [McCormack] got himself into the right positions. You can only ask that of your attacking players,” Di Matteo said.
“Eventually he scored. It was great build-up from Jordan Ayew but the finish was quite cool.
“I think Rudy’s goal was exceptional as well. It was another pass from Ayew.”
On Kodjia’s display, the Italian manager said: “He was good throughout. He was dangerous. He had two or three good chances.
“He had a good game – and a very positive impact.”
Kodjia and McCormack were two of the Championship’s most prolific scorers last term, and they will be expected to fire Villa up the table in the coming months.
The Claret and Blues have started the campaign poorly, and currently sit down in 17th place.
Villa’s display against Forest was encouraging, but they were unable to hold on to claim the three points against Phillipe Montanier’s spirited side.
Villa are next in action on Wednesday night against Brentford, and the pressure is on them to collect the three points.
