Aston Villa are set to take on Barnsley in Championship action later this evening.
Roberto Di Matteo has told Aston Villa’s official website that his side must remember that they are playing well.
Villa have won just once so far this season, and currently sit down in 17th place in the Championship table.
The Claret and Blues have badly disappointed, but Di Matteo insists that his team are not far away from picking up a run of victories.
“We need to remember we are doing well even if the results don’t reflect that,” Di Matteo said.
“We are so very close to reaping the rewards of our work.”
Reports are already emerging, suggesting that Di Matteo is under serious pressure.
Villa’s next match comes against Barnsley this evening, and it will be a stern test for the Midlands side.
The Tykes have performed above expectations so far, and are currently in seventh place in the Championship table.
If Villa can get the win at Oakwell this evening, they could move up to 14th place in the second tier standings, but a defeat would leave them in danger of slipping into the relegation zone.
