Aston Villa have won just one match so far this season.
Roberto Di Matteo has told Aston Villa’s official website that he disagrees with people suggesting that his side are conceding goals due to a lack of focus.
Villa have been guilty of throwing away nine points from winning positions already this season.
The Claret and Blues have conceded four goals beyond the 80th minute in their eight Championship matches to date.
However, Di Matteo insists that Villa’s failure to keep opposition sides at bay is not down to a lack of concentration.
“I don’t agree that it’s switching off,” Di Matteo said at his press conference this afternoon.
“There have been some individual errors in the past.
“We changed a couple of things at the weekend. We bought in a few different players as well.
“So, as I said, I need to look at different solutions for the team which gives the side some certainties and securities.
“Keeping asking questions of the opposition defence and goalkeeper is always a good sign.
“If you can have a good balance and defend well as well I think it bodes well for the future.”
Villa have won just once in the Championship so far this term, and they currently sit in the bottom half of the table.
The Midlands side are performing well below expectations, and their promotion credentials are set to be tested at the weekend.
Villa’s next match comes against a Newcastle United side, who have won six of their last seven matches, and appear to be one of the top teams outside the Premier League.
