The Forest midfielder impressed against Leeds during Saturday’s late kick-off.

By and large, Robert Tesche has impressed since joining Nottingham Forest this summer.

And Saturday evening’s draw with Leeds United was no different for the German midfielder. Forest may given a blunt display – and been unlucky to have had two goals disallowed for offside – but Tesche was one of their more impressive performers at the City Ground.

In one area particularly, in fact, the 27-year-old was the weekend’s best Championship player.

Indeed, as Opta stats show, no player in the division won more tackles than Tesche did against Leeds, displaying his steel in midfield for Stuart Pearce’s side.

And a look at the Nottingham Forest midfielder’s overall performance is equally intriguing.

Within the Forest side, Tesche also topped the statistical standings in two further areas, as no one completed more overall passes than the German, while he also made far more final-third passes than any other Nottingham Forest player against Leeds.

Forest fans will no doubt hope the 27-year-old can keep that level of performance up, although an even better statistic for Pearce’s side would be their ‘goals for’ column increasing as a result!
