West Ham United are currently in the midst of a really poor run of form.
West Ham ace Robert Snodgrass sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and suggested that he and his teammates have been getting too far ahead of themselves recently, in comments that will surely worry the Hammers fans.
The east London outfit currently sit in 12th spot in the Premier League table, and are seven adrift of seventh placed Wolves.
Much was expected of West Ham after they spent heavily during the summer transfer window, but they quite simply have not lived up to those high expectations.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side face Liverpool tonight, and they will need to be at their very best, if they are to have to have any chance whatsoever of taking anything from the contest.
Snodgrass spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and suggested that his team cannot afford to look too far ahead – something that they have been guilty of in recent weeks:
“When you look too far ahead and you don’t get that result you feel as if it’s the end of the world but that’s what we have found over the last few weeks. We don’t look too far ahead – just focus on that game because you can find yourself getting beat [like] against Wimbledon and put out of the cup. They fully deserved it and we weren’t at the races.”
After West Ham beat Arsenal, Pellegrini’s men quite simply haven’t been at the races, and the fact that they just don’t seem to be motivated against the so-called ‘lesser teams’ will be a massive worry for the manager and the fans.
They need to be more consistent, not just against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, but more importantly, when they play the teams in and around them in the table.
And even if they manage to do that between now and the end of the season, seventh place still seems like a long way away.
