West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass has told The Scottish Sun that he urged Albian Ajeti to join the Bhoys.
The Hammers signed Ajeti from Basel last summer, having seen him shine over in his native Switzerland.
However, Ajeti endured a dismal season in England, failing to start a single Premier League game in a difficult campaign.
West Ham then chose to sell Ajeti this summer, offloading him to Celtic in a £5million deal earlier this month.
Ajeti made a dream start to his Celtic career, scoring the winning goal in a narrow 1-0 win at Dundee United last weekend.
The 23-year-old was only a substitute that day, but will soon be pushing Neil Lennon for a start if he continues in that form.
Now, West Ham ace Snodgrass – a boyhood Celtic fan – had admitted that he talked Ajeti into the move, telling him that he could go down in history at Parkhead.

Snodgrass even compared Ajeti to Odsonne Edouard, believing that he could be just like the Frenchman once he’s given a chance to shine regularly.
“I knew that Celtic were interested in him right from the start, along with a few other teams,” said Snodgrass. “But I tried to sell the dream to him, as such. I told him about how special the club is and what the fans are like. I spoke to him about the European nights and the Old Firm games. With everything that’s at stake this season I explained he could go down in history. He had other options but he had a right good think about things and while I’m not saying I was the deciding factor, I definitely tried to sell the club to him as best I possibly could, being a Celtic fan myself.”
“It was tough on Albi because he never really got a fair run of five to ten games in the team to show what he was capable of. But there’s no doubt that the way you get the best out of Albi Ajeti is to give him a run of games and let him play. We’ll all see how good he really is then. Remember, that was the same with Edouard. We didn’t really see how good he was until he got a run of games as he was playing in Moussa Dembele’s shadow until then. It’ll be the same with Ajeti,” he added.
