Hull City winger has spoken out.

More than 48 hours after Mike Phelan was fired by Hull City, star winger Robert Snodgrass has spoken out.

The popular manager had been appointed last Autumn after an impressive start as caretaker boss, but with Hull sitting in 20th position, the club have decided they needed fresh input.

Snodgrass has been open about his desire to move on from Hull, rejecting the offer of a new contract in late December, The Guardian reported.

Last night Snodgrass took to social media to wish his former boss well, whatever his next move may turn out to be.

Hull have already moved to bring in a replacement for Phelan, appointing former Olympiakos boss Marco Silva, The BBC reported yesterday.

They have a brief respite from Premier League action while Silva adjusts, hosting relegation rivals Swansea City in a FA Cup third round match.

Then next week they have a EFL Cup semi-final first leg match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Phelan being denied the opportunity to lead Hull out against his former club is perhaps the cruellest element of his departure.
