Robert MacIntyre got off to a solid start on Thursday at the Genesis Scottish Open, posting a three-under par 67.
MacIntyre has won at The Renaissance Club before, back in 2024, so he is clearly a big fan of the golf course that hosts the Genesis Scottish Open.
The Scot played alongside Rory McIlroy and Chris Gotterup on day one in North Berwick, East Lothian.
Robert MacIntyre has struggled for form recently, but he produced some really steady golf on Thursday at the Genesis Scottish Open.

However, his round of 67 was bettered by Rory McIlroy by two shots.
MacIntyre was delighted to be paired with McIlroy and Gotterup at the Scottish Open, and he clearly raises his level when playing alongside the best golfers in the world.
Robert MacIntyre comments on Scottish Open fans after playing with Rory McIlroy
MacIntyre and McIlroy were in fine spirits out on the golf course at The Renaissance Club on day one.
The two golfers have always enjoyed each other’s company, and today was no different in North Berwick.
The crowds were obviously right behind MacIntyre on Thursday, and he responded when asked what he thought of the support that he received.
“Yeah, every time I come back and play in Scotland, it’s unbelievable,“ the 29-year-old admitted.

“Certainly know how to get behind their own, and today was no different.
“Having the support is obviously massive, and having two other players like that alongside brings up the atmosphere.“
Having the fans right behind him in his homeland this week should give MacIntyre a significant boost.
Robert MacIntyre explains why mental strength is so important
MacIntyre was one-over par through his first three holes on Thursday, but battled back really well to finish three-under.
“Everyone knows that I’m like a kettle, always boiling away, ready to erupt,“ he said.
“It’s one of them ones where I’ve just got to, when life is good off the golf course, that’s one part, and it’s going on the golf course and it’s being able to accept — my biggest thing is acceptance. And everyone is the same. If you can accept the bad, you probably won’t play many bad rounds of golf.
“And it’s like that shot on 18, my last hole there. Hit a lovely 5-iron, a couple of yards right of the target. I think it’s landed just short of the pin on the slope. It’s ran all the way down and come back in the bunker. If I’m not in a good head space, I’m going ballistic. How unlucky is that? Yeah, it’s a bit unlucky.
“But I know I’ve got the skill and tools to deal with the next shot, whereas when I’m not in that mind frame, it’s like, I’m dead in here, I’m in the worst spot possible. But when the mind frame is the way it is now, I know I can hit those bunker shots. Just go and do it.“
