Leeds United's Robert Green

Leeds United goalkeeper Robert Green has told The Yorkshire Evening Post that he wants to carry on playing.

Green is 37 years of age and is still going on strong. The former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers man is the first-choice goalkeeper at Leeds at the moment.

The Englishman has made it clear that he is determined to carry on playing for a while and is not ready to retire from professional football.

“I feel good, I feel fit and I want to carry on playing,” Green told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “That’s why I came here. I want to play games.

“I don’t want to sit around and chill out for the rest of my career, picking up easy money doing not a lot. I want to be part of something interesting and exciting. This is proving to be that.”

New contract for Robert Green?

Green’s current contract with Leeds runs out in June 2017, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The former Norwich City goalkeeper still makes the odd mistake, but he seems determined and has a lot of experience.

The 37-year-old can still do a job in the Championship, and it would be wise of Leeds to hand him a new one-year contract.

If Leeds do get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season, then the Whites could sign another experienced and quality goalkeeper. It would provide Green with more competition and push him.
