The ex-Premier League and Championship hitman is impressed with Leeds United’s manager.
Robert Earnshaw has told Sky Sports that Leeds United’s Garry Monk is doing a fine job as manager.
Leeds are fifth in the Championship table and there is legitimate optimism within the fanbase that they can win promotion back to the Premier League.
The 37-year-old endured a horrendous start by winning only one of his first six league games in charge of the Whites but it has been a superb improvement since.
It is Monk’s first job in management since being sacked by Swansea a year ago and although Earnshaw says Monk is doing an excellent job, he feels that the English coach was unfortunate to lose his job with the South Wales club.
“He’s done an excellent job,” he told Sky Sports. “I’ve got to give him credit because he’s a new manager.
“He’s still learning, but he’s also learnt from some great people like Roberto Martinez and the eight or nine years of this Swansea philosophy of how to play and how to be effective playing well.
“That’s given him confidence and that’s good for him because I feel he was a little hard done by at Swansea, but he’s now doing a good job.”
Leeds have a tricky run of fixtures on the horizon.
On Boxing Day, they visit Preston North End, before then gearing up for a visit to Aston Villa three days later.
Two defeats would not be detrimental for their promotion hopes, though they will probably drop out of the top six, but two wins will certainly reinforce the buzz.
