Glasgow Rangers youngster Robby McCrorie wants to challenge Ibrox teammate Allan McGregor for a place in new Gers’ manager Steven Gerrard’s team.

McGregor has moved to Rangers in the summer transfer window following his departure from Hull City in the Championship in England.
The 36-year-old goalkeeper started his professional club football career at Rangers and left for Besiktas in 2012.
McCrorie is 20 years of age and has yet to make his debut for the Rangers first team, but the Scotland Under-21 international is already looking at challenging McGregor for a spot in the team at Ibrox.

“You could say I now want his place because the reason I’m playing football is to be No.1,” McCrorie told The Daily Record. “It doesn’t matter what club you’re at, you want to be playing.
“That’s the mentality you must have, especially at Rangers because you have to be a winner there.
“Even though the keepers at the club are older than me I want to be just as good as them – in fact, better than them. I’ll learn a lot from training with them and I want to push them hard.”

Ambitious
McCrorie seems to be a very ambitious young goalkeeper, and that certainly bodes well for his future.
If the 20-year-old wants to play for Rangers in the long run, then he will have to fight with experienced goalkeepers.
It is hard to see the Scotland Under-21 international establish himself in the Rangers first team next season, and perhaps he should go out on loan to a club in the Scottish Championship in the summer transfer window.
