Could Everton push for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season?
Savage has been impressed with Everton’s activity in the summer transfer market which has seen them sign forward Wayne Rooney, defender Michael Keane and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford among other players.
The BBC Sport and BT Sport pundit has also suggested that the Toffees could challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season if they are able to sign a proven goalscorer as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who has left for Manchester United already this summer.

“Ronald Koeman’s revolution is in full swing – Romelu Lukaku may have gone, but they have spent £100m on new players with the promise of more, notably Gylfi Sigurdsson, to follow,” Savage wrote in The Mirror.
“After a few false dawns, this could be the year Everton push hard for a top-four finish if they replace £75m departure Lukaku’s firepower with another proven goalscorer. Verdict: Close, but no cigar 7th.”

Everton finished seventh in the Premier League last season, and given the quality and calibre of players they have signed so far in the summer transfer window, they should at least match that this campaign.
The Toffees do need to sign a proven goalscorer as a direct replacement for Romelu Lukaku, though.
Although it is going to be hard to find someone as good as the Belgium international, if the Merseyside outfit get a striker who can score maybe 15 goals in the Premier League next season, then they will do well.
