Former Leicester City and Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage has praised Liverpool winger Sadio Mane in The Mirror.

Mane joined Liverpool from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer transfer window.

According to BBC Sport, the Reds had to pay the Saints a transfer fee of £34 million, which could rise to £36m, in order to secure the services of the 24-year-old former Red Bull Salzburg star.

The Senegal international has been playing well this season and has established himself as a key player in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Savage has been impressed with the performances of the former Southampton star, and has suggested that the 24-year-old could make the difference for Liverpool this season.

“And Mane looks like a player who will grow in stature instead of being weighed down by his £34million price tag,” Savage wrote in The Mirror.

“Mane’s movement – dropping deep, pulling wide or hovering on the shoulder of the last defender – has made him difficult to track. Defenders don’t know whether to stay superglue-tight or drop off and let him roam.

“Already he has made a big difference to Liverpool: over the next seven months or so, he could prove THE difference between glory and a near-miss.”
