West Ham United are not doing so well in the Premier League at the moment.

West Ham's Dimitri Payet

Former Leicester City and Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage suggested on BBC Radio 5 live 606 on Saturday evening (September 17, 2016) that West Ham United attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet could be regretting signing a new contract with the club.

Payet, who joined West Ham from Marseille in the summer of 2015, put pen to paper on a new deal in February 2016 which will see him remain at the London Stadium until 2021.

The France international was one of the best players for the Hammers last season.

The 29-year-old scored nine goals and created 116 chances in 30 Premier League appearances for the Hammers during the 2015-16 campaign.

Payet also had a fantastic 2016 European Championship in France in the summer, scoring three goals and creating 24 chances in seven matches.

West Ham have started the 2016-17 Premier League campaign badly and find themselves third from bottom in the table at the moment.

Former Wales international midfielder Savage has suggested that Payet could be regretting his decision to remain at the Hammers this season.

“If I was Payet, and it’s my personal opinion, I would be looking around and thinking, ‘What have I done by signing that new contract?’” said Savage on BBC Radio 5 live 606 on Saturday evening (September 17, 2016). “Good luck to him, good luck to West Ham, but I think Payet is better than West Ham.”

Payet has created 13 chances in three Premier League appearances for West Ham so far this season.
