Moussa Dembele has been the signing of the season in Scotland and there’s only more to come.
Robbie Savage has marvelled at Celtic’s bargain signing of Moussa Dembele on Twitter.
The French Under-21 international arrived from Fulham in the summer after his contract at Craven Cottage expired, meaning Celtic were required to pay a development fee of just £500,000, The Mirror reports.
However, after netting 15 times in 23 appearances in all competitions, and being dubbed the best Celtic striker since the legendary Henrik Larsson, Dembele has been linked with a host of huge clubs across the continent with The Sun quoting fees of around £20 million for the 20-year-old’s signature.
Dembele also fired home a hat-trick in September’s Old Firm demolition of Rangers before scoring the clincher in the League Cup final against Aberdeen earlier this month and Savage has praised Celtic for their ability to spot such an opportunity for merely pocket change.
The athletic striker would certainly net Celtic a healthy profit if they were to consider a quick-fire sale in the New Year – though Savage’s maths may well be off on this occasion.
According to his calculations, a fee 15 times Dembele’s cost would earn the Scottish Champions a grand total of £7.5 million. No doubt they’ll want around triple that if they were to entertain any offers.
However, Dembele himself stated recently that he was determined to remain at Celtic Park for the foreseeable future, meaning any potential suitor might as well put away the chequebook.
