Everton are on the hunt for a new manager following Ronald Koeman’s sacking.

Everton's interim manager David Unsworth looks on during the English League Cup fourth round football match between Chelsea and Everton at Stamford Bridge in London on October 25, 2017.

Robbie Savage has suggested to BT Sport that he is a big fan of David Unsworth, but he feels that Sam Allardyce or Sean Dyche would be better appointments for the Merseyside club.

Unsworth is currently in caretaker charge at Everton and he has made no secret of his desire to take control on a permanent basis.

However, Unsworth has lost all three of the matches he has taken charge of since Ronald Koeman departed.

And Savage feels that Everton should target either Allardyce or Dyche, as they look to turn their fortunes around.

“Personally, I like David Unsworth. He’s been in the job for three games now, but you’ve got to look at Big Sam,” Savage said. “Everton are in a relegation battle. Sean Dyche at Burnley too, they don’t spend much money but improve every season. Those would be my two favourites.”

Dyche and Allardyce are considered to be among the leading candidates to take over at Everton by bookmakers, with the pair both boasting far more Premier League experience than Unsworth.

Everton’s latest defeat came against Lyon last night, with the Toffees losing 3-0 in the Europa League.

Whoever takes over at Everton appears to face a massive task, if they are to get the Merseyside outfit out of trouble.

Everton are currently in 18th place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against Watford.
