Liverpool fans would have been annoyed that Marcus Rashford’s goal stood on Sunday.

Robbie Savage has suggested that Manchester United’s goal against Liverpool on Sunday shouldn’t have been overturned because Watford weren’t given a ‘stonewall’ penalty during their clash against Tottenham the day before.
Liverpool were on the end of a number of big VAR calls at Old Trafford yesterday, including striker Divock Origi who felt that he should have been awarded a foul moments before Marcus Rashford would stick the ball into the back of the net.
On Saturday, Watford winger Gerard Deulofeu wasn’t awarded a penalty when he was fouled by Jan Vertonghen in the penalty area.
When VAR opted against overturning Rashford’s goal, former Premier League midfielder, Savage gave his theory behind why the goal shouldn’t have been disallowed.
“If they don’t give Watford a penalty yesterday, they can’t overturn that one,” Savage told BBC Sport. “Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen fouled Gerard Deulofeu, it was a stonewall penalty.
“There’s a high-bar, there’s got to be consistency. That might have been a foul by Victor Lindelof but it wasn’t a clear and obvious foul.”

In the overall context of the game, it was a pretty poor performance from Liverpool, who did end up walking away with a point thanks to Adam Lallana.
Whilst Lindelof’s challenge on Origi was a foul there are those who are questioning whether there was enough to overturn the on-field decision.
But from Liverpool’s perspective, whilst they will be annoyed at that call, they will be pleased that they are still unbeaten and sitting top of the Premier League table.
