Former Leicester City and Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage said on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5 live on Monday evening (broadcast from 7pm, August 22) that it would be a bad move for West Ham United to sign Wilfried Bony from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham are interested in signing Bony from Premier League rivals City this month.

It has been reported that the 27-year-old Ivory Coast striker has been put up for sale by the Citizens.

The Daily Mail has reported that the Hammers have asked to take the former Swansea City man on loan.

Savage believes that a loan move to West Ham would be great for Bony, but it would not be good for the London club.

“I think for Bony it will be a great move,” said Savage on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5 live on Monday evening (broadcast from 7pm, August 22) when asked about speculation linking Bony with a loan move to West Ham. “For West Ham, bad move.”

Bony joined City from Premier League rivals Swansea in January 2015 for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £28 million.

The former Sparta Prague and Vitesse striker scored four goals and created 13 chances in 26 Premier League appearances for the Citizens last season.
