Tottenham Hotspur beat Rochdale 6-1 in FA Cup action last night.

Eric Dier of England looks on during the International Friendly match between England and Brazil at Wembley Stadium on November 14, 2017 in London, England.

Robbie Savage has told BT Sport during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Rochdale that Eric Dier and Juan Foyth failed to impress him.

Dier and Foyth were both picked to play in central defence for Spurs, but could not help Mauricio Pochettino’s side keep a clean sheet against their League One opponent.

Spurs won the tie 6-1 in the end, but Savage was far from convinced with the performances of either Dier or Foyth.

“This new partnership of Dier and Foyth has been very poor,” Savage said. “I’m not sure Pochettino will be happy with them tonight.”

Savage’s criticism of the Spurs centre backs was, perhaps, a touch harsh, as they were barely tested in the second half.

Rochdale put in a resilient showing in the first period, and went into the break with the scores locked at 1-1.

However, Tottenham’s class showed in the end, with Pochettino’s side running riot in the second half.

Tottenham have now progressed to the FA Cup quarter finals, where they will take on Swansea City, where they will be favourites to make it through again.
