Leeds United are going strong in the Championship at the moment.

Former Derby County and Birmingham City midfielder Robbie Savage said on BBC Radio 5live 606 on Saturday evening (November 5, 2016) that he would love to see Leeds United back in the Premier League.

Leeds have not featured in the Premier League since 2004 and are playing in the Championship this season.

The West Yorkshire outfit are one of the biggest clubs of England and regularly attract over 20,000 fans to their home matches at Elland Road.

The Whites did not start the 2016-17 campaign well, but they are going strong at the moment and are in the running for a top-six finish.

Garry Monk’s side are currently sixth in the Championship table with 26 points from 16 matches.

Automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season may not be possible, but clinching a playoff spot is certainly feasible for Leeds.

Former Leicester City midfielder Savage has said that he would love to see the Whites back in the top flight of English football.

The former Wales international has also backed Leeds to make a run for the playoffs.

“Personally I would love to see Leeds United back in the Premier League,” said Savage on BBC Radio 5live 606 on Saturday evening (November 5, 2016). “I think they are a fantastic football club. I really would.”

“There are always a couple of teams that make a late run,” added Savage regarding Leeds’s playoff chances. “I am looking at Villa and Derby, but Leeds are in there. Why not?”

Newcastle United are the current league leaders, and it is very likely that Rafael Benitez’s side will win the Championship this season.

Brighton & Hove Albion and Norwich City are the two main contenders for the second spot.

Huddersfield Town, Reading, Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa and Derby County all will be aiming for the playoffs.
