Robbie Savage elieves Garry Monk is flying the flag for young British managers.

Former footballer turned pundit Robbie Savage believes Leeds United boss Garry Monk is a shining example of why clubs should give chances to British managers.
After taking part in a debate on BBC Radio 5 Live inspired by Swansea City appointing American Bob Bradley, Savage picked out Monk’s previous and current work as reason why clubs should not be fearful of appointing young bosses.
Commenting on Twitter, Savage did not go overboard with his assessment of Monk’s Leeds reign so early on, labelling it ‘ok’.
Leeds are in 11th place in the Championship, and have won four of their last five matches, a big change from having won just one of his first five league games.
The Whites are Monk’s second job in management, having got his big break at Swansea City where he had been a player for several seasons.

It was a surprise to many that Swansea sacked him so soon, panicking last December, with Guidolin eventually put in as his replacement.
Monk will forever be grateful for the Swansea job, as it is doubtful Leeds – or many Championship clubs – would have given him the role without previous experience.
But after having shown he can lead a Premier League side to big wins – including beating Manchester United – he demonstrated himself capable.
His work at Swansea prompted Leeds to make their move for him this summer, and his early sacking there is only going to make him want to succeed even more with Leeds and get back into the big time.
