The Reds beat current champions Leicester City 4-1 at Anfield on Saturday.
Robbie Savage has told BT Sport that he believes Liverpool can be title contenders this season if they find consistency.
The Reds were in superb form on Saturday afternoon as they beat champions Leicester City.
Their attacking prowess was particularly notable as they carved their way through the Foxes defence to secure a 4-1 win.
It was their second impressive display this season after they saw off Arsenal in a similar manner on the opening day of the season.
And it has convinced Savage, who says they can be title contenders if they can play like that on a consistent basis.
“If they can be consistent, they’ve got a real opportunity of challenging for the title,” he told BT Sport.
“Top four, they’ve got to be looking at that and if they can play consistently, the pace and power they’ve got I really think [they can challenge.]”
The big factor that could aid Liverpool in their hopes this season is the lack of European football to contend with.
They, like a number of English teams, struggled to deal with the added workload that European football brings last season and it affected their league form.
Not having that issue this year could be a real boost, as it proved to be in that successful season under Brendan Rodgers, and could even help to propel them into a title challenge as it did under the Northern Irishman.
