Derby County have surprisingly re-appointed Steve McClaren as their manager.
Pundits Robbie Savage, Adam Virgo and Danny Higginbotham have taken to Twitter to react to Derby County’s appointment of Steve McClaren.
It was only this past summer when Derby chose to appoint Nigel Pearson as their new manager, but he lasted just over five months having won only three times in 14 games in charge of the Rams.

Derby’s results have picked up since Chris Powell took temporary charge, but he didn’t land the job on a full-time basis as the Rams stunned many with their latest appointment.
Just over a year since he was sacked by Derby, Steve McClaren is back at the iPro Stadium having been re-appointed by the Rams and their owner Mel Morris earlier today.
The 55-year-old not only featured for Derby during his playing days, but also served as their assistant manager during the 1990’s as he worked alongside Jim Smith.
Former Newcastle manager Steve McClaren looks dejected
McClaren returned as Derby boss in 2013, winning more than 53% of his games but failing to win promotion with the club, having lost to QPR in the 2014 Championship play-off final before a remarkable collapse in 2015 saw Derby slip from automatic promotion contention to outside the play-off place.
McClaren was subsequently allowed to leave the iPro Stadium and moved onto newcastle United, where he lasted less than a year having been sacked by the Magpies in March.
Now back in work with Derby, many can’t believe that McClaren has again managed to return with the Championship club – and former Rams stars Robbie Savage and Danny Higginbotham have both taken to Twitter this evening.

Savage couldn’t contain his bemusement at Derby re-appointing a manager who failed to win promotion before leaving for Newcastle, whilst Sky Sports pundit Higginbotham suggested a huge turnaround is needed at his former club.
Finally, Channel 5’s Adam Virgo suggested that Derby’s decision to re-appoint a manager they sacked last year was ‘strange’, but thinks McClaren will want to put things right with the club.
