Lee Wallace will reportedly leave Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers in the summer transfer window.
Lee Wallace of Rangers
According to The Scottish Sun, Wallace will leave Rangers at the end of the season when his current contract with Steven Gerrard’s side runs out.
The Daily Record has claimed that United are keen on signing the 31-year-old left-back on a free transfer this summer.
United manager Neilson has given his take on the Scotland international defender, and has responded to speculation that he wants him in his squad next summer.
The Scottish Sun quotes Neilson as saying about his reported interest in Wallace on Thursday: ”I saw that this morning. I know Lee well from my time at Hearts. He’s a very good player. It was news to me when I saw it in the papers today.
“He’s a fantastic player. I’m sure Lee will have a lot of options. Whether it be Scotland, England or abroad. He’s a very, very good player so there will be a lot of teams interested in Lee.”

Leaving Rangers
Wallace has been on the books of Rangers since the summer of 2011 when he joined from Heart of Midlothian for a transfer fee reported by The Scotsman to be worth £1.5 million.
The former Hearts star has been an important player for Rangers over the years, but the left-back has struggled for playing time this campaign.
The 31-year-old has made only three substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for the Gers this season, according to WhoScored.
