Robbie Keane says Tottenham Hotspur tried to sign four players last summer.

Robbie Keane has told PaddyPower.com that he believes Tottenham Hotspur tried and failed to sign four players during the summer window.
Spurs failed to sign a single player during the off-season, becoming the first Premier League team to do so since the summer transfer window began in 2003.
According to The Times, Tottenham had a £25 million bid for Jack Grealish knocked back on deadline day, having also been linked to a number of other players.
And Keane reckons that the North Londoners tried to sign no fewer than four players, but backs his old club to make amends when the January window opens.
“There have been a few moans that they didn’t make a signing over the summer, but I know first-hand that they tried to sign four players, it just wasn’t meant to be – teams were overpricing players,” he told Paddy Power.com.
“I can understand from the fans’ point of view on that, but if you look at the bigger picture for the last few years, it’s been up and up for Tottenham.
“If they can buy a couple of players in January, which I’m sure they will, and help the squad, they can have a good season.”
Originally it didn’t look as if Mauricio Pochettino needed new players, given that Spurs won three on the bounce – including a 3-0 demolition of Manchester United.
But three defeats by a 2-1 scoreline followed shortly after that, giving Pochettino a three-game losing streak for the first time in his Tottenham career.
