Manchester United wanted Jurgen Klopp before he arrived at Liverpool, says Robbie Fowler.

Klopp was handed the Liverpool managerial role in October 2015, and the former Borussia Dortmund boss has been hugely successful at Anfield.
Under the German, the Reds reached the final of the Europa League in 2016 and the Champions League final in 2018.
The Merseyside outfit won the Champions League last season and also finished just a point behind eventual champions Manchester City in the Premier League table.
Liverpool legend Fowler, who is now the manager of A-League club Brisbane Roar, has claimed that Klopp turned down the Reds’ bitter rivals United after his departure from Dortmund.
Fowler wrote in The Mirror: “I did an interview with him a couple of years ago and he told me he turned down a couple of super-rich clubs after Dortmund – one of them was definitely Manchester United, the other probably Real Madrid – because he hated how they were focused solely on commercial influences.
“He said he liked Liverpool because they had a balance between the money needed to reach the top and the history and identity of the club and their fans.”

Liverpool success
Klopp has been a huge success at Liverpool and has made the team strong contenders for the Premier League title.
With the Reds holding an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table at the moment, the Anfield outfit are strong favourites for the championship this season.
