Chelsea have sacked Thomas Tuchel and the search for his replacement is on.

Graham Potter is the early frontrunner for this job, while Mauricio Pochettino is also reportedly being considered by the Blues.

With Potter and Pochettino seemingly the two top candidates for the Stamford Bridge post, Jamie Carragher ran a Twitter poll asking his followers who he thought could be the next manager of the Blues.

Carragher’s former teammate, Robbie Fowler, replied with something of a left-field suggestion stating that he has a sneaky feeling that Brendan Rodgers could get the job.

This time 12 months ago, Rodgers would’ve been amongst the favourites for this job after his great work with Leicester, but unfortunately for the northern Irishman, his stock is low right now.

Indeed, the Foxes boss is thought to be on the verge of the sack at Leicester City after a poor start to the season, and it would be a surprising appointment if Chelsea decided to go in this direction.

However, that isn’t to say that Rodgers would be a bad choice.

As the former Liverpool manager has shown, he plays brilliant football and he knows how to win – securing a mammoth amount of silverware during his time at Celtic.

Factor in that he has previously worked in a coaching role at Chelsea, and it’s fair to say that he wouldn’t be a bad choice.

Sadly for Rodgers, this is likely to be a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and he’s not likely to be seriously considered for this job on this occasion.
