Woodburn shot to prominence by becoming Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer last week.
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has told the Liverpool Echo that it’s important that Ben Woodburn gets looked after properly after he became the Reds youngest ever goalscorer last week.
Woodburn came off the bench to score the Reds second goal in their 2-0 win over Leeds United in the EFL Cup quarter-finals on only his second first team appearance for the club – just three days after he featured as a substitute in the Premier League win over Sunderland.

Fowler feels that Woodburn will be well looked after, and is quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: “It’s important now that he gets well looked after. The players and staff at Liverpool know that and they stop you from getting a bit too big for your boots, but it’s fantastic for him and we shouldn’t get away from that.
“I think he’ll be well looked after because Jurgen is very astute when it comes to handling young players and doing what’s right for them.”

Woodburn was also an unused substitute for the weekend’s 4-3 defeat to Bournemouth. Manager Jurgen Klopp seems keen for any hype surrounding the 17-year-old to be minimal, demonstrating that he has a long way to go in terms of his development, and is determined to keep the player grounded.
Nevertheless, he is a talent to get excited about with many admiring his talents in pre-season games back in the summer. Given that he has been in and around the first team squad in recent weeks, Klopp seems pretty keen to blood the teenager into first team action.
Options have been a little thin on the ground in recent games in the final third which may benefit Woodburn and the experience he will get in the coming weeks will be vital for his development. While everyone seems excited about his talent, the underlying message seems to be that he has a long way to go.
