Sergio Aguero is hunting him down but as things stand nobody in Premier League history has scored so many goals so quickly as Robbie Fowler and in total he bagged 120 in his time at Anfield.

Fowler, who also played for Leeds United and Manchester City, was one of the most deadly finishers in Liverpool’s – and indeed Premier League – history.

‘It sounds stupid but…’

But now, four years after hanging up his boots, the 41-year-old has revealed his most cherished Liverpool goal in an interview with Sky Sports’ Soccer AM.

“It sounds stupid this but it’s probably not the best goal, but I scored a goal against Charlton last day of the 2001 season, it was an overhead kick, not a textbook overhead kick obviously… when you think overhead kicks you think Pele, Escape to Victory, don’t you … but it was just a placed overhead kick,” Fowler told Soccer AM.

“But it was good because it meant more to the team and it capped off an unbelievable season, we won every cup competition we were in and we needed to win to finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League.

“First half we were awful and I scored this goal and second half we were magnificent and ended up winning 4-0 and the season just ended up being superb.”
