A section of West Ham wasn’t happy when West Ham appointed David Moyes till the end of the season. Even many pundits questioned whether he is the right man for the job, especially after his failures with Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland.

According to Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler, Moyes is what West Ham need at the moment. In fact, he believes Moyes can turn the tide at the London club.

Fowler said that the football fans weren’t right to slaughter Moyes for his failure at Sunderland. He labelled it as the “Stadium of darkness”, saying the Black Cat fans should take a quick glance at where they are now.

The former Liverpool striker says that Moyes was never a “flair boss” at Everton. But he was very good at getting his team organised, and knew how to get results.

Fowler also added that Moyes could play decent football where things were going well. He can bring discipline and strength that will suit West Ham at the moment.

West Ham lost 2-0 to Watford in Moyes’ first game in charge. Fowler says that all they need now is to find consistency and grind out a few results.

“I know Moyes won’t be thinking of the negatives, he’ll be thinking it’s a chance to show people he wasn’t the failure everyone assumes after the Sunderland experience,” wrote Fowler in his column for the Mirror.

“Ok, he’s gone into a really tough environment and a hard task of having to win over a large sector of the fans. But his qualities could also be what West Ham need at this moment.

“He was never a flair boss at Everton, but he got his team organised, knew how to get results and, when things were going well, they could play decent football. That discipline and strength will suit West Ham right now.

“They need to find consistency and grind out a few results and then, maybe with the confidence that brings, they can be a bit more expansive again.”
