The Liverpool midfield duo are two of Jürgen Klopp’s most trusted lieutenants.
Robbie Fowler offered high words of praise for Liverpool duo Jordan Henderson and James Milner, when writing his regular column for the Mirror, suggesting that the pair are massively important to Jürgen Klopp’s side both on and off the pitch.
The Reds currently sit at the top of the Premier League table, two points clear of second placed Manchester City, although they have played a game more than Pep Guardiola’s side.
And Milner and Henderson have played key roles for Liverpool this season, despite receiving criticism from some sections of the club’s fanbase.
Fowler highlighted just how important the Reds duo are, however, when writing his regular column for the Mirror, pinpointing how much of an influence they have on the Liverpool team:
“The pair will readily admit they’re not the most gifted players in the team, but they are still massively important because they are leaders on the pitch and in the dressing room. They’ll lead the jokes – and I can tell you that James Milner is very funny, despite his reputation – and they’ll also sort stuff out, sort people out.”
Next up for Liverpool is the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Porto at Anfield on Tuesday night, and it would be no surprise to see Klopp opt for Henderson and Milner in midfield for the visit of the Portuguese side.
They might not be the most glamorous of players, but as Fowler says, they are incredibly important for Liverpool.
