Burnley succumbed to only their third loss of the campaign on Saturday and VAR had a huge say in the outcome of the game.

Burnley star Robbie Brady spoke to Lancashire Live in the aftermath of his side’s defeat at the hands of Leicester City on Saturday.

The Clarets opened the scoring against the Foxes through Chris Wood’s first-half header but were hit back with goals from Jamie Vardy and Youri Tielemans. The Clarets still had a chance to level the game and Wood took it in the final stages of the tie but VAR intervened and disallowed what would have been Jonny Evans’ own goal.

Sean Dyche was left fuming on the touchline and to be fair to him, he had every reason to considering how little contact there was from Wood on Evans. Even if Woods hadn’t clipped the Foxes defender, it seemed likely that the ball would have found the back of the net but the Clarets now have to take it on the chin on move on.

Robbie Brady spoke to the media after the game where he was quizzed about the incident to which expressed his disappointment.

He said: “I’ve only had a brief look at it, I’ve seen it once on replay, it’s a hard one. I think there is a slight touch, but I don’t think he means it, he’s just in his stride as he steps.

“Is he going to get there, is he not going to get there? It’s disappointing, but it’s one of them. There’s nothing we can do about it. If it goes upstairs and they’ve made a decision we’ve just got to get on with it.”

With three wins and three draws in their first nine games, Burnley have gotten off to a much better start than they did last season. However, Dyche’s side face Chelsea at home this weekend before travelling to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United who look extremely solid at home.

Burnley will have to let the defeat slide and focus on the next two games. If they can manage to come away without much damage after the next two weeks, Dyche’s side will be on the right track to fulfil their ambitions for this season.
