Rob Lee has defended Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce on Twitter and has criticised club owner Mike Ashley.

The former Newcastle midfielder believes that Bruce is being unfairly criticised, and he has pointed the finger at Magpies owner Ashley for the problems at the club.

Disappointing start to the season

It was always going to be tough for any manager to step in following the departure of Rafael Benitez from Newcastle at the end of last season.

Bruce is a very good manager who should be given time and afforded patience, and he can certainly make sure that the Magpies do not get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Newcastle have not made a good start to the season and have lost both of their Premier League games.

On Sunday afternoon, the Magpies will take on Tottenham Hotspur away from home at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London in the league.

With Spurs being in good form and being the better team, it is hard to see Mauricio Pochettino’s side slip up up against Newcastle today.
