Rob Holding has told Arsenal’s official website that Gabriel Martinelli is a nightmare to come up against in training.

Martinelli has made an impact at Arsenal since arriving in the summer, with great excitement building about the teenager.

Martinelli has only been offered a few first-team opportunities at the Emirates Stadium so far, but he has looked at home in Unai Emery’s senior side.

Martinelli already has scored four goals in just five senior appearances for Arsenal.

And Holding says that he can see the talent that the young striker possesses every time he comes up against him in training.

“He’s come in and settled really well,” Holding said. “In training every day, he works hard. He puts you under pressure constantly and never stops running, which as a centre half is a nightmare. You want a striker that will sort of give up on you, but he never gives up.

“His finishing has been unbelievable, even with his head.

“He’s only a small guy but the headed goals he’s scored in the Forest game and the Standard Liege game have been incredible goals, to be fair to him.”

Martinelli may well be given the nod to start for Arsenal this evening, as Emery’s side are once again in action in the Europa League against Vitoria.

Emery has rotated his team in Europe so far, with plenty of fringe players being offered chances.

It seems likely that Martinelli will be given the nod to feature, after he scored two goals in Arsenal’s last Europa League match against Standard Liege.

If the Gunners do pick up the three points tonight then they will take a big step closer to sealing their progression to the next round of the competition.
