Rob Green told Optus Sport on Premier League Productions on Sunday that Arsenal fans have been ‘frustrated’ with Willian.

The former goalkeeper believes Chelsea fans will ‘tell you the same thing’ after he left Stamford Bridge to wear the colours of Arsenal last summer.

Willian is yet to score for Arsenal since that switch and he came off the bench last night during his side’s 3-0 win at Sheffield United.

Green, who would have shared a dressing room with Willian at Chelsea, stated that he was ‘surprised’ at the length of the contract that was offered to his former teammate by the Gunners.

“Arsenal fans have been frustrated with Willian since his arrival,” said Green. “And if you ask the Chelsea fans, they will tell you the same thing.

“Three years was the surprise. Chelsea offering him one, not sure he would have taken two, but three was a bonus.”

The Willian signing hasn’t worked out and the only way he can win over the Arsenal fans is by helping them win the Europa League.

He has experience in that department having won that competition with Chelsea against Arsenal.

But if Arsenal crawl over the finish line to a standard mid-table finish and no trophy in their hands then Willian won’t be the only one in North London feeling the wrath of the supporters.

Mikel Arteta will be top of that list and Edu, who helped bring in the likes of Willian, will also feel the anger from the supporters.
