The Leeds United man has been a big success so far.
Speaking to LUTV, Rob Green has likened Leeds United goalkeeper to a “pogo man on a stick”.
The 25-year-old has been a revelation since joining Leeds on loan from Torino in the summer.
The towering centre-back has really caught the eye for his no-nonsene defending and passionate performances which have made him a fan favourite among Whites supporters.
Impressively, the Sweden defender has managed 49 headed clearances, and won 24 aerial duels in six Championship games.
With 91, Danny Batth has managed more headed clearances than anybody else in the division, but Jansson has played some 500 minutes less than the Wolves centre-back.
And asked by LUTV if Green had ever encountered someone like Jansson, the goalkeeper joked: “The pogo man on a stick. He’s a character. The beauty of someone like Pontus on the set pieces, along with Kyle [Bartley], is that they’re so tall and so strong in the air. They’re going to win their fair share [of headers].
Leeds fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that Jansson returns from international duty in good shape this week ahead of their trip to Derby this weekend.
United have conceded three times in their last five Championship games, four of which have been wins. Jansson left the field at half time in their 1-0 defeat at Bristol City two weeks ago, with the winning goal coming in the second half.
